Declaración de Misión
La Sociedad de Arbitraje Internacional de Miami (Miami International Arbitration Society – MIAS), fue fundada con el propósito de promover el uso del arbitraje y la mediación internacional, y la elección de Miami como sede para procedimientos arbitrales internacionales relacionados con la solución de controversias transnacionales en materia de comercio e inversiones. La Sociedad se esfuerza por mantener y mejorar la extensa infraestructura desarrollada para fomentar el arbitraje internacional en Miami, mediante el respaldo a la legislación apropiada, importantes programas académicos en universidades del área, conferencias locales sobre arbitraje internacional, la presentación de distinguidos profesionales como oradores invitados, así como proporcionándoles capacitación y actualizaciones jurídicas a sus miembros acerca de los más recientes desenvolvimientos en arbitraje internacional. La Sociedad también sirve de foro a través del cual los profesionales en arbitraje internacional, y demás personas interesadas en el tema, pueden establecer un vínculo para intercambiar ideas e información acerca de esta creciente área de especialización. |

The Florida Bar seeks practitioners to serve as arbitrator judges for the 2012 VIS PRE-MOOT COMPETITION

The goal of the Vis Arbitral Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train law leaders of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution.

Following a presentation by a delegation from the Miami International Arbitration Society, led by Chairman Burton Landy (of the Akerman Senterfitt law firm) Miami was chosen to host a key international legal conference in 2014. At its annual Council meeting held in Geneva on May 21, the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) comprised of the world’s most prominent practitioners and scholars in the field of international commercial arbitration, selected Miami as the venue for its biennial Congress. Founded in 1961, ICCA is the leading global organization focused on the practice of international commercial arbitration. This Congress, often referred to as the “Olympics” of the international commercial arbitration world, will be attended by 1,000 international lawyers from around the world who will be coming to Miami to hear presentations by the most prominent international arbitration practitioners and scholars in the field.
