The “Future of Arbitration: Miami” & the “Miami International Arbitration Society” Mentorship Program

Recognizing the preeminent role that law students and recent graduates have in the development of international arbitration, the groups Future of Arbitration: Miami  (“FAM”) & the Miami International Arbitration Society (“MIAS”) have joined efforts to launch a mentorship program.

The goal of the mentorship program is that MIAS senior members (“mentors”) guide and counsel students and recent graduates members of FAM in how to enhance and develop their careers in the international arbitration field.  Candidates are encouraged to work along FAM in the development of international arbitration in Miami by collaborating in networking activities, training sessions, publications, etc.

The potential candidates must submit their curriculum vitae and a statement of purpose (1 page) explaining their interest in international arbitration and how they plan to contribute to its development in Miami to the following email address Esta dirección electrónica esta protegida contra spambots. Membership is open to all members of FAM who:

1) Are under 40.

2) Recent graduates (maximum two years after membership to a Bar association).

3) Law students.

4) Candidates must demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in international law, specifically in international arbitration.

The mentorship program logistics:

·Through the program, FAM members will be paired to mentors and will be eligible to receive career advice and arbitration know-how, within their allocated mentoring group. The mentoring groups should be headed by one of MIAS’ senior members and be composed of no more than three candidates.

·The Mentors will meet with the candidates, individually or in groups, at least twice in a 6-month period. The meetings could be personally, by phone, or video-conference (preference for a personal meting taking in consideration the work schedule of the participants).

·The mentorship program runs for a 6-month period.

·No fee is charged for participation in the Mentorship program, and no financial benefits or funding is available through this program.
